Over the past few years, integrated development has become an indispensable element of European programming and cohesion policy. Territories have opportunities to experiment with new forms of governance and implementation mechanisms by overcoming the rigidity of administrative boundaries and adopting strategies capable of reflecting functional interdependencies. Various initiatives are currently underway in Italy although still uncoordinated. This section discusses some cases and puts the acceptance on the need to develop more reflection on phenomena that are slowly transforming the territorial programming and institutional framework.
