The essay examines the relevance of the European Pillar of Social Rights in the relaunch of social Europe, in the archiving of austerity policies, in a perspective of pan-European solidarity and convergence in social protections. This success of the Union should revive the reflection on which model of welfare is desirable and achievable in the Union, which takes into account the pluralism of national systems but directs them towards common strategic objectives of a "growth in the future" toward a federal trasformation of the sopranational order.
