Young immigrants and strategies of identity’s construction: the role of consumption in defining the Self - Today young immigrants are a sizeable portion of the Italian youth. It becomes necessary to look at their lives and experiences, because they are an important part of the entire immigrant population, and they will become Italian citizens. The article explores the strategies that young immigrants use to construct their identities, paying attention to musical styles, fashion styles, ways to have fun. In fact they are useful tools in order to define and to communicate one’s own identity. The aim is to underline how young immigrants’ patterns of consumption could be considered as instruments to react or to be ‘assimilated’ socially or culturally.

Keywords Young immigrants, identity and adolescence, pattern of consumption.
