The birth of an individual is linked to the possibility to operate a break of the continuity existing with the internal image of parents, particularly with the mother’s one. This article is about the complex clinical relationship with an anorexic patient for a period of treatment characterized by the difficulty of operating this break, and therefore existing, in time and space, so to arrive and taking care of herself and her body. Listening to one’s own desires implies heavy suffering, because this means being open to the Other, to separation from her internal parents, to transformation.
