The "Grinta" is the remake of the hathaway’s film, with John Wayne, main star. The actual film, directed by the brothers Joel and Ethan Coen (2011) presents Jeff Bridges in the Wayne’s role and it is a very different film. It is an ethic and civil work in which the western, even if exciting, is only the adventure frame. The protagonist, a fourteen years old girl, Mattie, lost her father killed by a bandit, and wants to get her revenge; she asks the help of the adventurer Bridges. The journey is an "initiation journey" through violence and death, that will leave deep psychological and physical signs in the courageous girl. The theme of the dead father substiuted by an occasional and inadequate father seems to be significant for the girl’s evolutionary process.
