The article, that stems from the corpus of Essays on Woman (1928-1932) aims at showing how, in the thought of Edith Stein, some thematic cores recur that are the object of an increasingly greaterwork of bringing to light and working through, in the awareness - matured at Husserl’s school - that the reality is inexhaustible. In particular, after recalling the ontological function of philosophy in the inquiry on the human being, which permits to speak about species and individuality, the article addresses the matters of the relationship between species and type, the mutability or notof the species, the trait of the woman soul, and highlights how they are either the result of inquiriescarried out previously or they contain in nuce some elements of a reflection carried on by German philosophy in subsequent times and works.
