Spain, like other countries in the so-called European semiperiphery, has based its high economic growth rates over the last thirty years in a downward path model development, focused on the intensification of work and cheaper labor costs. In the first part of the text we analyze the changes in the area of labor market regulation and in the area of the organization of work. Second, we analyze the effects on the quality of work of this production model based on indicators such as precarious employment, intensification of work and deskilling of the tasks. We finally conclude that the so-called Spanish economic miracle has been based on over-exploitation of human and technical resources, especially of a new generations. And that has limited the current possibilities of development in the medium and long term of our productive model.
