In the city centre of Athens, the crisis has slowed down the rhythm of gentrification. The first parts of this paper introduce the spatialities of Athens that elicit gentrification. The following sections analyse the way inner city fears become the Trojan horse of gentrification in the researched area of Metaxourgio.
