Abstract:
Il saggio si propone di esaminare, nei suoi tratti essenziali, la teoria dell’ideologia in Marx ed Engels per poi analizzare i più macroscopici slittamenti semantici a cui è andata incontro nel secolo XX, fino a giungere alla presente (e presunta) "fine delle ideologie". Riletta dopo più di centocinquant’anni dalla sua stesura, la Deutsche Ideologie può risvegliarci dal "sonno dogmatico" ricordandoci che ogni dispositivo ideologico presenta per sua natura una strutturazione tale per cui l’ideologia si dispiega e si impone quanto più si nega e si fa impercettibile. Quanto più l’epoca dice di essere non-ideologica, post-ideologica e anti-ideologica, tanto più essa presenta un occulto ma, non per questo, meno intenso tasso ideologico: il movimento teorico con cui il nostro tempo nega l’ideologia è, esso stesso, una sotterranea articolazione ideologica, un ipertrofico lavoro carsico dell’ideologia.

This essay aims at showing Marx’s and Engels’ theory of ideology in its essential features and then investigating the most important semantic shif tings that it has undergone during the XX century, to arrive at the present (and presumed) ‘end of ideology’. Read after more then 150 years from its drafting, German Ideology could wake us up from the ‘dogmatic sleep’, remembering that each ideological device deploys and imposes itself as much as it denies itself and makes itself imperceptible. The more an historical period is told not-ideological, post-ideological, and anti-ideological, the more it presents an occult - but not for this reason less intense - ideological influence: the theoretical movement of denial of the existence of ideology is itself a subterranean ideological articulation
