Presentazione: Actors and their role in the automotive fuel market liberalisation (Edgardo Curcio) - Italy ha a number of filling stations higher than in every other European country, Germany, France and United Kingdom included, even if these countries have a greater overall population. Moreover, Italian filling stations are still insufficiently automated nor integrated with convenience stores. A higher incidence of distribution costs on gasoline price follows. Consequently the Government has tried to reform the sector with the aim of making it more efficient. This article, beside the description of the Italian situation, analyzes the liberalization proposal made by the Italian Government at the beginning of 2007 and takes into consideration the problems of the petrol distribution sector from the point of view of managers and consumers.
