Abstract:
The object of the present study is the system for activating affects during profound coma. Indeed, their presence and intensity in coma has already been verified in previous researches by many authors throughout the world and in some studies of our former Institute of Psychology. Sixty people who experienced peacefulness, serenity, tranquillity and relaxation during profound coma were interviewed. The presence and intensity of these af-fects during coma were confirmed and the special light and full deafferen-tation were identified as two stimuli for activating sentiments in coma. The hypothesis of their hedonic and potentiated anactivation was sufficiently verified. However, future research must produce more suitable instruments to study these phenomena on the border of the science paradigms.
