Abstract:
The "New" Industrial Policy in Europe: Consequences for the Italian Industrial Policy The industrial policy of a country can be seen as a combination between two different areas of play: the room allowed for by the international economic community, and the achievements of the domestic policy-makers, also in view of the preferences of the domestic voters. This approach calls for two different treatments, looking to the
international scene and internal changes respectively. In this article the "new" Italian industrial policy is analyzed, in the first place in terms of the changes allowed for by the international (mainly European) context. We examine both the various EU policy measures, and the dynamics of the state aid provided by the main member countries. A forthcoming article will be dedicated to the changes in the domestic setting.
