Groups based on physical activity are effective therapeutic tools for patients with pathologies that compromise their verbal language skills. With regard to the latter, due to their particular characteristics some sports activities are especially useful. In this work, the author proposes a table tennis group led by himself with psychiatric patients at a Day Centre. He expounds the theoretical grounds and the clinical criteria for this choice. He points out the therapeutic function of this sport by relating the first period of this experience. Key words: groups based on physical activity, therapeutic function, exchange.
