La ricerca ha analizzato le caratteristiche delle rappresentazioni sociali sulla salute e sull’età anziana possedute dagli anziani. Hanno partecipato 150 anziani, appartenenti alla Terza e Quarta Età, ai quali sono stati somministrati due questionari relativi alle rappresentazioni sulla salute e l’età anziana. L’analisi delle componenti principali, condotta su entrambi i questionari, ha fatto emergere una rappresentazione complessa della salute a struttura bi-fattoriale ed una rappresentazione integrata dell’età anziana, caratterizzata dalla presenza di progettualità, ricchezza esperienziale, crescita personale. I risultati sono stati discussi alla luce delle teorie recenti sulla salute in chiave bio-psico-sociale e delle teorie sull’invecchiamento positivo che ne evidenziano la multidimensionalità e la rilevanza delle risorse interne e sociali per il suo conseguimento.
This study was aimed to investigate the characteristics of social representations of health and ageing among the elderly. 150 young-old and oldest-old took part in the study. It was administered two questionnaires concerning the representations of health and ageing. The principal component analysis concerning the two parts of the questionnaire has revealed a complex two-factorial conception of health and an integrated conception of ageing characterized by projects, experiential richness and personal growth. The results are discussed highlighting their connections with recent theories on health as bio-psycho-social condition and the contemporary theories on positive ageing that enphasizes the role of internal and social resources for attaining it.
