A projective identification view in the contemporary psychoanalysis - In this work the author emphasises the need for a revision of the concept of projective identification. This defense mechanism, a phrase initially coined by M. Klein and the base of Paranoid personality disorder is to be reviewed, according to a relational perspective, both in a theoretical and clinical way, and he proposes to rename it "intersubjective identification". Due to recent discoveries in neuroscience and infant research, the projective identification is shown as an early physiological mother-child relationship that can become dysfunctional during growth if it’s not replaced by more mature defense mechanisms. A new theoretical model was subsequently developed and it’s obviously shown how it has an impact in the treatment of diseases in which projective identification is crucial.

Keywords: Projective identification, paranoid disorder, mirroring, ralational perspective, self-consciousness
