Demetrio Neri, On Bioethics The deep-rooted presence of bioethics in the international cultural scene is an indication of how, towards the end of the 20th century, it represented a new approach to the moral issues stemming from medicine and from biological research. In the first three sections the article identifies and discusses some aspects of the "novelty" of bioethics, particularly the idea of bioethics as a new public forum for an ethical debate characterized by rational argumentation and respect for plural ism. The last section briefly illustrates the Italian situation, ending with some "biopolitical" questions.
