The contemporary artistic landscape is marked by the exhaustion of the ideolog- ical and political project of the avant-gardes - as the generalized repetition of the Duchampian gesture testifies. The so-called "works of art" are part of an institutionalized and commercialized "art world". In this context, the opposition between works of art and aesthetic qualities like "beauty" seems to be overcome. If today our art is "without qualities", aesthetic qualities reach well beyond the scope of art.
