The current paper represents Professor Maffettone communication at the 2nd of April 2009 Forum. The author deals with the theme of the centrality of sustainability in the values of contemporary society, traces the debate on the ethics of the environment and offers the view that sustainability has the same problems that were already in the foundational approach of environmentalist ethics.
