This contribution argues that territorial analysis represents a powerful tool in the study of the so-called "piazze neutraliste" in 1914 Italy, enabling us to understand the character of these noisy, crowded and often violent demonstrations. The paper also highlights the rise of certain forms of political participations in areas often considered as backward or underdeveloped, despite the defeat of neutralism.
