The measures adopted by the European Union and its Member States to face the recent health crisis have had a significant impact on the airport sector. Considering the normal flow of passengers in the airports and the specific problems of prophylaxis related to the transport activity itself, on arriving, departing and in transit passengers, closure of certain airports and some routes has been adopted in order to protect public health. On the other hand, authors consider the economic impact of the pandemic on airlines and airports as well as already adopted countermeasures and further possible steps to be undertaken.
