Reading from the work of Mario Bertolini: The imprint in children of the fantasies of the parents: the importance of their meaning in health and pathology, the author, explores how the psychoanalyst can highlight, in the psychopathology presented by the children, aspects or parts of the parents that the parents themselves have dissociated after having denied them. The work highlights how necessary it becomes to take care not only of the adolescent but also of the parents. Through the discussion of a clinical case, the author observes the dramatic impact on chil-dren of bereavements not carried out by their parents and what happens when the child is un-consciously called on to solve what the parents have not been able to face and elaborate. The author shows how the analyst’s ability to listen can provide a useful answer to the complexi-ties of intervention that these situations require. The psychoanalytic intervention becomes the way to promote and support a process of maturation within the parental couple, it facilitates, and establishes more mature relational modalities finally able to favor the therapeutic path of the child, his/her development, and growth.
