Title: Crescita economica e mercato alimentare
Abstract: Crescita economica e mercato alimentare (di Domenico Regazzi, Alessandro Ragazzoni, Roberta Spadoni) - ABSTRACT: Food production is not the only result of agricutlural activities and is more and more affected by a molteplicity of actors working in different production sectors. The system includes agriculture, manifacturing, distribution and connected services such as restaurants and food trade firms. Under this aggregate picture, the system represents one of the most important aggregates of the economy of our Country. Building on this general considerations, this work analyses, in the first part, the economic growth of the Country and the pattern of food consumption of this period, highlighting eventual relationships. In the second part, attention is paid to the food market and to the relationship with economic growth. The main element of interest of the present context of food market, that can be cause/conseguence of the econmic growth, are analysed.

Title: Prodotti agro-alimentari e turismo
Abstract: Prodotti agro-alimentari e turismo (di Giovanna Trevisan) - ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to focus the growing interest in local food products in spite of the process of globalisation, particularly with regard to the tourism. The role of modern agriculture is changed. In past times agriculture had only a productive role; nowadays it is necessary that it offers many other services, not only products, to the community. In fact, people ask natural spaces, environment, genuine food; in other words modern consumers search for differentiation. So, typical food product could be at the same time, way for agriculture and tourism development.

Title: La Filiera del latte bovino nelle Comunit? Montane. Penisola Sorrentina e Costiera Amalfitana
Abstract: La Filiera del latte bovino nelle Comunit? Montane. Penisola Sorrentina e Costiera Amalfitana (di Antonio Guariglia, Michele Cerrato) - ABSTRACT: In the examined territorial area has emerged that: a) the breeding farms milk cows are in sharp contraction because of increasing production cost and a reduced bargaining of the farmers; b) the manufacture is modest and fragmented. For the survival of the local sector of milk production and transformation it s necessary to adopt a strategy of valorization of the local products recognised as traditional by MIRAF (July, 2000) such as "provolone del monaco" and "caciottina canestrata" made in Sorrento. An important chance for increasing the breeding farms milk cows has been recognised by a recent decision of the Campania Region that assigns the additional quotas of milk according to some criteria which, among other things, establishes that in the Comunit? Montana the maximum number of requests made by the breeders of the Amalfitana and Sorrentina Coast, can reach up to 90 quintals of milk production per h. of SAU. This limit is higher than the one prevailing in other territorial areas where the milk production is diffused (30 q). In the examined local area there is a narrow production of traditional cheeses. Because of the small production they are not very re-known outside the area of production and few neighbourhoods. Nevertheless, they exhibit excellent qualitative standard, thanks to the cleverness of the casari inspired by an old tradition and because of this they deserve much longer diffusion. Even if the local milk has suffered a drastic reduction, it is common opinion that also a limited addition of its quantity is essential for the typical microflora involved and it is the base of the quality of the manufactured products. This is the reason why all the local sectors of Lattari Muntains tied up to the production of the milk, they should be safeguarded and supported, especially in a tourist zone where products for the delicate taste, nourishing capability and lightness can, together with the environmental protection, represent a strong incentive to attract new flows of visitors. It is not by chance that the two Comunit? Montane (The Amalfitana and Sorrentina Coast) have recently promoted "the road of the taste of the Lattari Montains". A thematic route that aims at the exploitation both of the environmental resource and the typical agricultural productions of the districts.

Title: Sicurezza alimentare e qualit? ambientale del prodotto agroalimentare
Abstract: Sicurezza alimentare e qualit? ambientale del prodotto agroalimentare (di Eugenia Aloj Tot?ro) - ABSTRACT: The presentation of "White Book" (on the alimentary safety) fron European Union, the coming of an European Agency and the decision by Piemonte Region to set up a trademark of Controllated Environment Denomination (DCE) emphatize the relationship among Environmental Quality, the Quality of Alimentary Product and the Welfare of consumer. Considering the importance of Risk Factor sinergy, with regard to relationship between Cancer and Nutrition, today, it is very important, before ensuring good standards of Life Quality, to ensure a good Environmental Quality of Alimentary Production.

Title: Il "condono" degli aiuti italiani al settore zucchero: un caso di diritto comunitario senza precedenti
Abstract: Il "condono" degli aiuti italiani al settore zucchero: un caso di diritto comunitario senza precedenti (di Claudio Ravaglia) - ABSTRACT: Council decision 2000/257/EC of 20 March 2000 acknowledged exceptional circumstances of compatibility with the single market regarding Italian aids disbursed along 1984/1992 to the sugar sector. It also produced many effects at european and national level. Italian financial problems of the sugar sector were solved. Furthermore, Italian political role at the forthcoming sugar international and european rounds will be maintained if not increased. For the first time, a Council decision invalidated a decision already adopted by the Commission concerning State aids. It also corroborates the growing interference of intergovernmental measures in the Commission competences. A model for Italian positive and negative behaviour at European level should be determined in the examined case as well as the requirement of a continuous revision of institutional relations. Furthermore, it allows to enter the intricate Community procedures such as the State aids.

Title: L'economia dell'Agro Nocerino sarnese tra passato e futuro
Abstract: L'economia dell'Agro Nocerino sarnese tra passato e futuro (di Fausto Cantarelli) - ABSTRACT: The "Agro Nocerino sarnese" is in an extraordinary rural position between the coastlines of Naples and Salerno and boasts extremely fertile soil. Unfortunately the high population density and intensive farming with high levels of fruit and vegetable production, in particular tomatoes, together with the presence of preserved food and pickling industries have led to high levels of environmental degradation which compromise further economic development. The path to follow, therefore, proposes the restoration of the rural environment and foods, the archaeological sites and ancient monuments in order to be able to start the relaunch of actions to promote production which can easily be achieved because of the rich resources of the area.

Title: Marketing comunicazionale e politiche pubblicitarie del prodotto ittico in Italia
Abstract: Marketing comunicazionale e politiche pubblicitarie del prodotto ittico in Italia (di Sonia Prestamburgo) - ABSTRACT: Advertising policies represent, especially regarding to the consumer goods, one of the most effective way for supplied goods differentiation, and not only for this relevant firm target. Really, motivations and conditions that lead consumer?s purchasing choices are a durable element among the different consumer?s economic theories. Related to this case, purchasing comes out to be the complex result of a varied and rational series of decisions? sequences that completely involve consumer?s personal attitude and guide it through a certain marketing action. There is no doubt that advertising is one of the most important items of these specific strategies. This essay analyses advertising policies? theory and points out the main results of an empirical research carried out using a special test arranged for a panel of high school students in the country side of Udine (Italy). This test was applied to value the national Agricultural and Forestry Policy Office?s fishery products advertising campaign during the 1998.

The deep relation between managerial training and local and regional spread capability to develop entrepreneurial strategies is just shown here. Training, thanks to different courses for different farmers and business people, is important to improve knowledge in farm and firm managing and to support the idea of larger relations among businesses. Actually, because of small physical and economical farms and food SMEs? sizes some integration type among them is necessary (cooperation in processing and trading, product association in selling to wholesale market, contractual forms among cooperatives, factories and traders). At the same time, an agrifood marketing format, starting from agrisystem knowledging (i.e. product and farms and firms? characteristics, actual offered quantity and quality etc.), is proposed to improve performances in product offer organisation and to cope market competition thanks to the production origin, quality, label (product differenciation). Finally, the previuos pragmatic discussion shows, implicitly, its theoretical institutional background based on business people relations, behaviour rules, managing and marketing system, policy, research, extention service.

Title: Informazione e consumi alimentari. Il caso delle produzioni tipiche
Abstract: Informazione e consumi alimentari. Il caso delle produzioni tipiche (di Marcello De Rosa, Enrico Turri) - ABSTRACT: The aim of the paper is to describe the cost of information the consumer takes in the case of typical products and the differences with the standard products. The hypothesis of the authors is that the total costs of information is higher for typical products than for standard products, and this could determine the failure of a specific italian production. The methodology makes reference to the theory of conventions and uses the cathegory of transaction cost: by distinguishing among different kind of convention of qualification, the authors find a risk for typical products that wants to penetrate the national and international markets. In fact, the increasing distances between producer of typical products and their consumers could generate an higher cost of information and the choice of industrial products. Putting into practice a strategy of comunication and limiting the growth of denomination of origin could avoid a general confusion in the consumer and a conscious knowledge about typical products.

Title: Sviluppo rurale e produzioni tipiche
Abstract: Sviluppo rurale e produzioni tipiche (di Filippo Bencardino, Giuseppe Marotta) - ABSTRACT: The rural development, in the last years, has become one of the central themes of the political economic debate in EU. A remarkable contribution, on this issue, was made by the European Commission with the publication, in the 1988, of the document on The Future of the Rural World. In this document it is possible to find the foundations of the new Common Policy for the rural development that has been defining in the course of the last decade. One of the innovative elements has represented by the integrated development approach, based on a valorisation of the endogenous resources. In other words, the EU rural development policy is inspired to a model of endogenous and flexible development to gather and to valorise the differences of the social-economic and territorial environments of the Union. According to this formulation, the development process in a local context, although could not avoid a restructuring of the agricultural sector, can orient itself in environmental sense, agri-turistic, agri-handicraft, agri-naturalistic, etc., to valorise the quality and potentiality of the endogenous resources. In this modern approach of the rural development, the typical productions become particularly important. Where it is possible, in fact, the valorisation of the typical productions could represent a good tool for the local development. The EU Commission in his document affirmed: "the maintenance and the promotion of quality products could constitute an important element (of development) above all in the disadvantaged or isolated areas"6. Many empirical analysis have, however, underlined that the typical productions valorisation requires an organisational structure and a modern entrepreneurial culture of which, almost always, the rural areas result particularly poor. That makes the binomial "Rural Development - Typical Productions" rather complex and problematic to change and become a concrete and effective development factor.
