Both patients and doctors seem to be disoriented in front of the great challenges that are taking place. The rapid change we are now witnessing seems to create a situation of anomie (which is reflected on the experience of health care workers) that is difficult to manage in a period of economic and political crisis as well as of great discoveries in science and technology. The paper focuses on the unease of doctors: starting from the analysis of the international literature it will try to identify some possible streams of research on a phenomenon that still appears insufficiently examined in Italy, despite the wide concern both at the individual level and at the collective one. This issue is far from being easy to analyze, given the lack of a clear and unequivocal legisla-tive definition. However, it is a precondition for workers? well-being, which, in-stead, is protected by the law. Moreover, organizational well-being - meaning the health of the organization as concerns the system of relations and the degree of physical, psychological and social well-being of the work community - entails a close convergence between corporate interests and the interests of workers. The paper shows how this concept is linked to fundamental rights, as well as the rela-tion between the organization of work and the health and safety of workers. Final-ly, it dwells on the rules on public administrations concerning this issue. Abstract: The event that has seen the referral of Italy to the European Court of Justice regards the violation of EU rights related to the healthcare personnel in the Italian national health service. It is an indicator of a dysfunctional approach to the thematic of organizing work hours. Instead of being an integrating part of the process of changing for the better the healthcare system, work time has become a crutch for a system the failings of which are becoming more and more apparent. This is happening despite scientific proof of the effects that work hours mismanagement can have on occupational and sanitary hazards. After reporting the referenced European framework, the following article will shed light on this improvident operation, underlining its failings on various fronts, including the legal one. Stress, burn-out e manutenzione del sistema curante Abstract: There are jobs and professions that may turn work into something dangerous or exhausting, and among them primarily emerge the helping professions - nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists, etc. - for their continual closeness to deeply suffering people, at a physical or a psychic level, or both. The article explores the origins and the processes at stake in the various forms of painful experiences affecting those professions that are mostly exposed to high emotional costs, especially stress and burn-out. In doing so it highlights the role played by the organization and the management, and describes some of the most effective methods for the containment of anxieties and the promotion of organizational well-being, namely: supervisions, Group Relations Conferences, the executive coaching, the Social Dreaming, the Listening Post, the institutional observation, and the Balint Groups. Indicazioni da una indagine di etnografia organizzativa Abstract: Health service staff experience high levels of occupational stress, that are greater for nurses who work within the critical care environment such as the emergency department. This study was carried out to identify potential sources of stress for nurses working at the triage service within the emergency department in an Italian hospital. Ethnography was the methodological framework used to explore triage practice, with participant observation and non-structured interviews to triage nurses. We identified many sources of stress, caused by the phenomenon of over-crowding and the interactions with superiors and patients Classification-JEL: Keywords: Note: Pages:60-73 Volume: 2016/1 Year: 2016 Issue:1 File-URL:http://www.francoangeli.it/riviste/Scheda_Rivista.aspx?IDArticolo=58911&Tipo=Articolo PDF File-Format: text/HTML Handle: RePEc:fan:pripri:v:html10.3280/PRI2016-001006 Number: 6 X-File-Ref: http://www.francoangeli.it/Riviste/References.ashx?idArticolo=58911 Template-type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Elena Spina Title: I giovani medici tra carichi di lavoro e stress. Gli esiti di una ricerca Abstract: Several studies focused on the causes and effects of stress and burnout suffered by helpful professions, including doctors. Some of these studies, particularly in recent times, focused on a particular segment of the medical profession, that represented by the young physicians explaining how they are suffering stress and other professional illnesses since the early years of their career. Also in relation to the Italian situation, some studies documented this phenomenon; however, the situation could change in the near future due to the entry into force of the European regulations in November 2015. The new law reorganizes the doctor?s work in order to promote the professionals? well-being. This chapter presents the results of a pilot research conducted by the Centre for Research and service on social and health integration (CRISS) of the Universit? Politecnica delle Marche on 100 young professionals registered with the Order of doctors of the province of Ancona. The survey brings to light several critical aspects revealing how young doctors are highly stressed because of hard working hours and high workloads. Riflessioni da una ricerca sui medici marchigiani Abstract: Healthcare organizations are currently facing multiple challenges: the epidemiological transition, the aging of the population, the technological development and, not least, the process of managerialization. How these processes would affect the working conditions of healthcare personnel remains to be understood. In this backdrop, the article aims at contributing to the debate concerning the organizational wellbeing of health care settings. It starts with a theoretical reflection on the different conceptions of organization and on different perspectives on organizational wellbeing. The results of an exploratory research on a sample of physicians from Marche Region are then presented Classification-JEL: Keywords: Note: Pages:90-114 Volume: 2016/1 Year: 2016 Issue:1 File-URL:http://www.francoangeli.it/riviste/Scheda_Rivista.aspx?IDArticolo=58913&Tipo=Articolo PDF File-Format: text/HTML Handle: RePEc:fan:pripri:v:html10.3280/PRI2016-001008 Number: 8 X-File-Ref: http://www.francoangeli.it/Riviste/References.ashx?idArticolo=58913 Template-type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Marco Giovagnoli Title: Le Terre Rare. Questioni geopolitiche, economiche e ambientali Abstract: The problem of Rare Earth Elements (REE) is relevant in the discussion of the development scenarios in the medium to long term on a global scale. It is not their absolute scarcity to place them in a critical area but rather the peculiarity of their intended uses. The entire chain of ICT (smartphones, Internet, mass media, etc.), the energetic transition away from the carbon era, the new patterns of mobility, the technologically advanced lighting, the progressive miniaturization of devices critical to everyday life and much more - all this refers to the presence of REE in the contemporary life of great part of world population. Currently the sector of REE is dominated by the People?s Republic of China, both from the extraction side and from that of manufacturing. This article intends to present a preliminary overview of some of the issues related to the "shifting" of REE from a purely economic sphere to that of geopolitics and development strategies in the near future.
