The unsustainability of current global society?s development model: Origins and solutions Abstract: Sustainable Development Goals are a worldwide concern. Indeed, to date, almost the entirety of world countries have formally committed to achieve them by 2030. Across world regions - and countries, however, the extent to which they are addressed, and the means used to do so, vary substantially. While some governments have established appropriate offices and are seeking a dialogue with their citizens, others are lagging back, still reflecting on how this could be done. Keen to identify possible ways to address the SDGs at domestic level, the Vietnamese government, in cooperation with the UNDP, contracted the Center for Sustainable Development Studies to conduct the first ever national survey on perception of Sustainable Development Goals among Vietnamese young people. The solution of this issue requires the sustainable development of mechanisms that can concentrate its own resources for implementation of large-scale programs, which in turn requires the sustainable development of new methods for assessing the uniformity of the sustainable development of regional territories. In this article we give a description and results of approbation of the methodical approach to modelling the spatial development of the region, based on the method of cenological modelling. Economic cenosises of territories have a pronounced competition, the presence of which is determined by the nature of elements of the subsystem having different properties. For the description of the structure of the economic cenosis itself, a rank-parametric distribution has been used. The result of the modelling is a matrix of concordance coefficients, which, in essence, is an indicator of the existence of problem issues in each group of sustainable development indicators considered in terms of the spatial arrangement of the investigated objects. The results of the research presented in the paper allow us to conclude that it is expedient to use the developed method to evaluate the spatial development of the regions. Abstract: In this paper an econometric analysis of determinants of Italian regional public environmental expenditure is performed. Results from the whole sample show the presence of industrial pressure for environmental services, and that richer regions increase local environmental expenditure. When only North-Central regions are considered, econometric estimation evidences an interest of public opinion for environmental policies, and a positive relationship between per capita income and environmental expenditure. Pressure from population and industrial employees for the supply of environmental services is, also, found. In richer industries, the supply of regional environmental services is lower. In the Southern regions, only the aim of the local administration to maintain social stability is evident. Brady Title: The relationship among renewable energy, economic growth, labor and capital formation in Italy Abstract: This study investigates the nexus between renewable energy consumption and economic growth in Italy in the 1970-2007 years. The unit root tests results point out that our four variables are integrated of order one. Cointegration analysis reach contradictory results. However, the long-run estimations reveal that, if renewable energy consumption increases by 1%, real GDP decreases by 0.23%. The Toda and Yamamoto approach shows that exists a unidirectional causal flow, running from renewable energy consumption to aggregate income, in line with the "growth hypothesis". Moreover, these results are confirmed by Granger causality tests. While forecasts applications set out that VAR forecasts represent an improvement on simpler forecasts in more than half the comparisons, for each variable. In fact, VAR gives more accurate forecasts, over-performing the mean, RW, and AR methods. Classification-JEL: B22; C32; N54; Q43. The paper aims to investigate process of realization of the Circular Economy paradigm in food chain in the EU, in some member states focusing on Poland. The traditional operations cycle at 5-stage approach was carried out: programming where priorities are defined; identification where intervention options are considered; formulation where actions are developed in details; implementation where actions are carried out and monitored; evaluation of assessed achievements. The authors prove strategic actions undertaken at the UE level are followed by national policy steps as well as activities run at the level of companies and customers. A transition to a more circular economy requires a systemic approach that considers the interconnections that exist within and between sectors, institutions and local actors. The aim of the paper is to reflect on the characteristics of a territorial model for a circular rural economy, which directs its actions through a local lens to promote closer interaction between actors, by optimising the use of resources, and between production processes and social and cultural matrices. Not just agriculture but a combination of man, environment, nature, landscape and food that intertwine and integrate to give life to the rural system. The value of this new sector in Apulian agriculture is, over time, gaining more and more importance both from the point of view of the increase in value for the farmer and support for social policies in marginal areas (Macr?, 2011; Garc?a-Llorente et al., 2016). These business models today represent one of the major vehicles for the dissemination of circular economy practices in rural and inland areas. Since it contains a significant amount of organic matter, the treatment of Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW) represents a relevant challenge for sustainable development. This waste fraction, may produce a number of valuable commodities. The paper focuses on some specific substances, which are suitable for the production of biodegradable plastic materials and that may be used for the production of agricultural soil mulching films. The aim of this study is to investigate on the structure of this potential supply chain, from the collection or separation of OFMSW, to the commercialisation of biodegradable mulching films, in order to identifying the possible bottlenecks hindering its development. In the management field very few contributions deal with the topic of CE as a model that firms can implement from a business model perspective. The aim of the present study is to describe, by using a case study in olive oil industry, how firms in practice adapt their business model towards CE paradigm and the influence of personal drivers and stakeholders in this adaptation. The findings reveal that circular economy is for the firm an important paradigm not only to pursue environmental sustainability but above all to pursue economic sustainability. They represent urgent priorities to be addressed as well as hot topics for public debate. In this paper we argue that over-nutrition - the consumption of food beyond that which is necessary - can be regarded as a form of food waste. As such, it deserves attention as it generates the same economic, social and environmental impact as does food waste along the different stages of the food chain. In this study, the quantity of food waste hidden in over-nutrition to create overweight and obese Italians is estimated. By calculating the total excess calories consumed by overweight and obese people, it is possible to calculate the total quantity of excess food consumed by the Italian populace, corresponding to 2.67 trillion kcal per year. By converting this value into food quantity on the basis of a typical Italian diet, it was possible to estimate that 2.28 million tons of food is wasted annually. This figure is comparable to the quantity of food waste generated at the household level, as estimated by previous research quantifying food waste, thus confirming that policies focused on the promotion of sustainable consumption styles are crucial to address both the challenges of food waste and unhealthy food styles. Although there is a need to increase food production to feed an ever-growing population, about a third of world food production for human consumption is lost and wasted along the food chain every year (FAO, 2011). The authors analyse the amount of FW and the most recent studies on this phenomenon and conduct an empirical analysis to understand consumer habits regarding FW. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 127 consumers, considering that consumption represents one of the most expensive phases in the food chain. The results show that high income and older people pay less attention to avoiding waste. Finally, the results are compared with similar research and discussed in the concluding section. The local Authority of the Barletta, Andria, Trani Province, Italy, has shown interest to introduce modernization actions for the agricultural plastic waste management. The analysed territory is typically suited for vineyards, olive groves, and orchards. Several farms were examined by means of direct questions or compilation of questionnaires. Data gathered were elaborated in order to estimate territorial indexes as average values per year of the agricultural plastic waste quantities coming from different crops. The obtained results allowed to quantify the yearly generation of agricultural plastic waste as function of the typology. The study used methods of correlation, regression and principal components analysis. The results indicate that the surface of the sales surface of marketplaces in Poland per 1,000 residents varies greatly between regions. The level of analyzed variable is higher in regions with lower level of economic growth, higher inflation and higher unemployment rate. Marketplaces surface is also negatively associated with a number of large format retailers per 1,000 residents, population density and the degree of marketability of agricultural production.
