Attraverso una procedura consolidata nelle serie storiche, ? stata operata una disaggregazione territoriale e settoriale del valore aggiunto ricostruendo il dato regionale e provinciale. In questa procedura indiretta di stima sono state raccordate le serie del valore aggiunto settoriale (1980-1996) della classificazione NACE-CLIO, con la nuova classificazione NACE-Rev1 in vigore nel nuovo SEC95. Ci? ha condotto ad un trade-off tra l?aggiornamento delle stime ricostruite fino al 2000 e la riduzione dei settori utilizzati nella stima. I risultati mostrano l?elevata congruenza tra dati ricostruiti e fonti statistiche ufficiali. I dati ricostruiti a livello regionale sono stati, quindi, utilizzati per aggiornare al 2000 le stime non parametriche della convergenza regionale della produttivit? settoriale del lavoro. Spatial factors, as discussed in the New Economic Geography, have been widely neglected to date. Our panel data analysis for the period from 1988 to 2000 shows that the geo-economic location and the degree of agglomeration are clearly relevant for the levels of regional productivity, but they do not contribute to the explanation of regional differences in the change of productivity. We find some support for growth models that predict convergence, but this process is rather slow. Despite huge steps towards integration during the period considered, the growth of productivity of Western European regions appears still to be largely determined by national factors. Portnov and Arye Rattner) - ABSTRACT: Inter-urban income disparities influence crime rates. As a result, the highest rates of property crime tend to occur in wealthy localities surrounded by poorer ones. The Index of Relative Income (IRI) is proposed to measure the effect of urban inequality and proximity on crime rates. This index is defined as the ratio between the average per capita income in a town and its neighbouring localities. A multivariate analysis indicates that the proposed index helps to explain variation in property crime rates across localities, suggesting that the spatial unevenness of urban development (i.e., aerial proximity of affluent and poor towns) may spur property crimes. The findings of the present study thus lend support to regional development programs aimed at minimizing spatial disparities in regional and urban development. A European Comparison (di Angioletta Voghera) - ABSTRACT: The research analyses, through the historical-cultural matrix, the evolution of the culture of territorial management and the protection of the landscape in the German-Anglo-Saxon and Central-Mediterranean planning tradition aimed to sustainability. The research studies two cases France and the Netherlands that are representative of different approaches: France that has recently innovated its planning system to overcome the traditional separation between protection policies and territorial management, and the Netherlands that historically has developed an integration between environmental policies and physical planning. The exploration of the matrices suggests common tendencies, weaknesses and guidelines useful to implement in each planning tradition the innovation process aimed to sustainability.
