Title: Urban Growth Simulation Through Cellular Automata: A Way to Explore the Fractal Nature of Cities
Abstract: This paper presents a cellular automata (CA) model of urban growth, which simulates the process of urbanization in an hypothetical region. The model contains a set of rules that define the spatial interaction of cells and a set of parameters that can be appropriately fixed in order to explore different urban forms. What we further try to explore is how the different results of the model can be evaluated through fractal analysis and the estimation of the fractal dimension. We assume that the patterns generated are fractal in nature and that their analysis and evaluation should be based on this recognition. A relationship is identified between the parameters of the model and the value of the fractal dimension, corresponding to more compact or fragmented and discontinuous sprawl patterns. In a subsequent section some further issues are examined in order to make the model applicable in the examination of existing urban patterns.

Title: Environmental Quality and Accessibility Trade-Offs in Household Residential Location Choice
Abstract: The paper illustrates a method to detect and estimate interaction effects in household decision-making and tests the representative member hypothesis by studying how preferences of single members influence family choices. We performed a stated choice experiment concerning hypothetical choices among alternative residential locations. We found that the rankings of the attributes for the family and for each member were the same. The estimated coefficients for each member were statistically different from family ones, which demonstrates the fallacy of the representative member hypothesis. We estimated single members? relative power at the attribute level and extended a model developed in the literature to three-member groups.

Title: Affitto o propriet?? Un modello di scelta residenziale urbana
Abstract: Numerosi studi evidenziano la correlazione tra scelte di tenure - affitto o propriet? - e i fenomeni di mobilit? residenziale. L?articolo illustra i risultati di un?analisi alla scala urbana su un campione di affittuari e proprietari. Il livello di attrattivit? della propriet? residenziale e l?effetto dell?housing affordability vengono esaminati attraverso un modello ad utilit? stocastica, confermando una riduzione delle possibilit? di accesso alla propriet?, anche in relazione al canone di locazione originario dei movers. Vengono inoltre simulati dei canoni teorici di accesso ottimale al mercato della propriet?. La divergenza tra i valori simulati e i canoni effettivamente rilevati nello stesso contesto, viene presentata come indicatore di disagio abitativo.

Title: L?accesso all?abitazione di residenza: un?analisi multilevel sulle famiglie italiane
Abstract: La condizione di accessibilit? abitativa (housing affordability) viene definita come la possibilit? per una famiglia di acquistare, o prendere in affitto, un?abitazione adeguata alle proprie esigenze abitative impiegando una quota accettabile del proprio reddito. Obiettivo del presente lavoro ? stabilire se esiste un effetto della regione e del grado di urbanizzazione sulla quota di reddito impiegata per soddisfare l?esigenza abitativa. Per stimare l?eventuale esistenza di tale effetto abbiamo effettuato un?analisi multilevel a tre livelli (individuo, famiglia, regione) attraverso l?utilizzo del data set IT-EUSILC2004 sulle famiglie italiane. I risultati mostrano un effetto della regione e del grado di urbanizzazione nella determinazione della quota di spesa sostenuta per la casa. Classificazione
