Title: The Governance of Regional Knowledge Networks
Abstract: This article aims to illustrate the factors determining the process of knowledge creation and innovation, focusing on interactive learning, the sharing of tacit knowledge and the development of creativity. It then compares three different forms of regulation of economic relationships - the free market, governance, and government models -  focusing on promoting a greater speed of change more than the static factors of competitiveness. Finally, it illustrates the characteristics of competence centres as a new tool of innovation policy which may be appropriate in the evolution of European industry towards the knowledge economy.

Title: A DSS for Real Estate Location Choice
Abstract: The evaluation of real estate assets is currently one of the main issues addressed by territorial marketing strategies with a view to developing competitive cities. Given the complexity of the real estate market, it?s hard to identify a priori the factors that constitute a city?s competitive capacity to attract investments to this market. In this paper we design an integrated complex evaluation model able to map out and encapsulate the multidimensional spectrum of factors that shape the attractiveness each investment destination. The methodological approach is then illustrated through application of the model to a real-world case of investment choice in the residential sector of the city of Naples.

Title: Un modello per la valutazione di energia biologica in un sistema ambientale
Abstract: Nell?ambito di ricerche volte allo studio del mantenimento della stabilit? ecologica e della conservazione della biodiversit? di un sistema ambientale, uno strumento utile alla valutazione della frammentazione di un territorio ? il cosiddetto grafo ecologico. La costruzione di quest?ultimo si propone un modello dinamico per la valutazione dell?evoluzione dell?energia biologica nel sistema stesso. Una volta determinato il modello, rappresentato da un sistema di due equazioni differenziali ordinarie, si determinano gli equilibri dello stesso e se ne discute la stabilit?. Infine, in sede applicativa, si considera il sistema ambientale relativo al comune di Monforte d?Alba (CN) ottenendo l?evoluzione delle variabili del modello ai fini della stabilit? del sistema stesso.

Title: Ambiente operativo ed efficienza nel settore del trasporto pubblico locale in Italia
Abstract: Attraverso l?utilizzo di una variante del metodo a due stadi il presente lavoro si prefigge l?obiettivo di valutare l?impatto delle variabili ambientali sull?efficienza di un campione di 100 aziende del trasporto pubblico locale italiano. Il metodo combina l?approccio parametrico e non parametrico regredendo le variabili ambientali sulle misure di inefficienza degli input. Il lavoro pone particolare attenzione alla specificazione del modello non parametrico, all?individuazione degli outliers ed all?esogenit? delle variabili ambientali nel secondo stadio. I risultati confermano la rilevanza delle variabili esterne con particolare riguardo all?ambiente urbano ed alla localizzazione geografica. Il lavoro si conclude con alcune considerazioni di policy.

Title: Wage Differences and their Determinants in Spain: A Spatial Analysis
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyze wage differentials, and the economic factors behind them, across the Spanish provinces between 1995 and 2001. The results obtained by applying several complementary techniques show that: a) geographic location matters in explaining provincial wage differentials because each province tends to experience wages similar to those of its neighbors; b) these differentials are not very large but, although declining, they are likely to persist in the future; c) the degree of intradistribution mobility is low; d) the main economic factor behind provincial wage differences is the discrepancy in provincial labor productivity; and e) there is a negligible link between provincial unemployment rates and wage levels.
