Conditional on general and specific measures (structural reforms, public investments not ncluded in the ratio debt/GDP, additional investments, reduction of the tax wedge, depreciation of the euro against US dollar), simulations of economic growth rates and usual fiscal parameters are made. The only intervention that in the long run seems to foster country?s economy and at the same time drastically reduce its public debt is the devaluation of euro. It must be accompanied by the continuous pursuit of reforms that operate in a general form on the whole system. We characterize a market where a vertically integrated sales platform compete downstream with a firm selling a smaller subset of goods. The platform owner and the down-stream firm compete through the price (quantity variable) and the delivery time (quality variable), We find that in equilibrium the demand for the competitor?s good is more elastic than the platform owner?s demand with respect to the delivery time and that competitor?s consumers are more sensitive to changes in the delivery times rather than in the price. Furthermore, we find that when the platform owner?s demand elasticity is sufficiently high, then it could partially discipline the market power the platform owner can exert against its downstream competitor. However, if the cross-price elasticity is significant as well, the platform owner is likely to un-dermine the strength of competition by raising the access price to its platform. After distinguishing the several forms of CBI, we argue that Keynes only favoured some of them, avoiding impairing the role that political institutions must play in deciding the objectives of monetary policy. We assess Keynes?views against the background of the crucial transformations that the Bank of England underwent after WWI and of the Labour Party debates on the integration between CBI and the functioning of democracy. Keynes maintained that CBI must protect monetary policy decisions from the pressures coming from both private and political groups; and added that the separation of competence among elected and non-elected bodies must be supplemented by large communication with the society and by cooperation and coordination among public institutions. The sector is organised according to the productive arrangement of the industrial district. As for the jewelry district in Campania, the present work pursues the twofold objective of identifying the factors inducing enterprises?affiliation to the Tar?, the principal consortium of the district, and the consequent benefits. The empirical analysis documents that enterprises affiliated to the Tar? are larger and their costs have a greater incidence on the total level of production compared to the other enterprises. The principal benefit of participation is the reduction of the production costs, particularly of the costs for the services. However, there are no benefits in terms of revenue growth. Some implications for regional policy makers are discussed in the conclusions. The causes of this diffusion were: the development of new illegal markets, as cigarettes smuggling and drugs trafficks, mandatory residence of mafiosi in areas where organized crime was not present, a low deterrence activity and underestimation from public opinion of the gravity of criminal crime, strong political connections. Only in ?90 the deterrence increased quite lot and at least in the Sicilian mafia case efforts have been partially successful. The paper shows also that most of the areas of the diffusion of criminal organization were the wealthy one. In Southern Italy three region Abruzzi, Molise and Sardegna, that were poor regions, have not seen the birth of organized crime. The paper shows that these three regions have also a statistically significant rate of unemployment lower that other South regions. Gaslini di Genova Abstract: The use of Emergency Departments (EDs) is continuously increasing and the challenge of guaranteeing an efficient and effective service is threatened by the phenomena of inappropriate and frequent use. Most of the literature on the topic focuses on adult population; in this study we analyse the issue of frequent use of ED among paediatric patients, with the aim of detecting the most significant socio-demographic and clinical predictors of frequent use of emergency services. Results, based on data collected from the ED of one of the most important paediatric Italian Hospital, show that children aged less than 12 months, foreign and chronic patients (particularly those suffering from mental illness, respiratory diseases and circulatory system problems) have a higher risk of becoming frequent and highly frequent ED users. It emerges that frequent users, although they only represent the 8% of total number of accesses, they account for 19% of total costs. In this respect he argues that the frequency of this phenomenon is due to difficulties in applying institutional rules related to the specific provision of paragraph 4 of article 119 of the Italian Constitution. This is particularly clear for Caserta?s case where the 2012 Decree of the Ministry of the Interior about the "steadily balanced" budget of the municipality actually refers to the a document that does not guarantee to the citizens of that municipality any concrete financial rebalance. There are, of course, for the municipality of Caserta administrative and accounting difficulties that still have a significant incidence on these budget imbalances, as the author shows in the paper.
