"Bild" is a recurring theme, and in fact it runs like a connecting thread through Fichte’s notes. The Author addresses two questions: What does Fichte mean by "Bild" (image) here? And what constitutes an image " what does it take to make an image in the Fichtean sense? This brief outline focuses on the following main topics: a) image in the plural and in the singular (an all-embracing image as the "stuff everything is made of"); b) what it takes to make an image in the latter sense; c) seeing and the seen ("Sehen" and "Gesehenes"); d) the "Durch" and the expanded "Durch"; e) the image and the image of the image (the concept viz. the "Als"); f) image appearing to itself as image and image appearing to itself as object; g) image and what Fichte terms "nicht Abgeschlossenheit".
