The subject of industrial districts has been discussed in Italy for almost 25 years. It has given rise to research that is well-known even abroad, and in particular, it has produced a new understanding of the organization of national territory and of the strong system of manufacturing in the country, even if it has not been able to start the positive updating of national administrative processes. Nevertheless, the district of the arms industry in Brescia and Gardone Val Trompia appears to have been somewhat neglected in this research, despite its local economic weight and the remarkable role it has played in the international system of arms production. Particularly important is the steady growth and development of the Beretta group, guided by the old family company, whose production of refined shotguns and pistols is renowned all over the world. A careful analysis reveals that the real reason for the Beretta success lies in its military production.;
