To talk about equality and diversity means to talk about personal identity and social diversity. The central issue is to define what is a personal identity (concerning its stability among time, situations and people) and to decide whether it is possible to talk about personal identity or if this concept is unrealistic. Many philosophers’ and discussions’ result is that personal Identity is strictly related to others and therefore it is always necessary to conciliate one’s own needs with others’ needs. That is why, even if equality is a strong principle to
preserve, it has to be utilized in a different ways among situations: gender, age, health, cultural differences and social status are aspects of inner diversity among people that we have to take into account when we think about equality in law.
