The aim of this paper is to analyse, using specifically designed measures and indices, the environmental economic performance of a production system based on the use of miscanthus. The latter is chosen because it appears to be the most promising non-food farm crop. The final goal is to assess the levels of economic sustainability, including any potential tax incentives and special grants. The experience gathered from analogous projects will be used to pinpoint the critical areas of such an energy model in order to be able to analyse its real feasibility in the short to medium term.)" />
