On the ridge of hatred. what a space and listening to the passions? - The author analyzes a clinical case of a borderline patient in the frame of individual and family integrated intervention. The explosion of negative feelings, on the part of the patient in various settings, represented a precious opportunity to access areas of childhood trauma. Common goals consisted in activating reflections on the Self. The therapists involvement in the treatment of passions and a constant modality of self-analysis favour the development of thoughts and emotions that repair the absence of mentalization and of necessary treatment in the course of childhood of maternal depression.
