Asylum right in Italy after the reception of EU directives. An overview between de jure and de facto - The article focuses on the analysis of asylum right in Italy after the reception of important EU directives, and in particular the Qualification Directive (Directive 2004/83/EC), the Asylum Procedures Directive (Council Directive 2005/85/EC) and the Reception Conditions Directive (Directive 2003/9/EC). The article presents and analyses the most significant aspects, considering the introduction of major changes or on the contrary the persistence of old lacks in the Italian situation on asylum. It will particularly concentrate on the definition of persecution, on the different forms of international protection, on the principle of non refoulement, on the different typologies of reception and finally on the composition of the Commissions responsible for the examination of asylum claims.
