From a developmental-relational perspective, addiction is a dissociative behavior related to alexithymia and early trauma. The present study examined the relationship between early trauma, alexithymia and dissociation. Participants: 70 ( male = 35; female = 35) alcohol-addicted and 70 individuals (male = 35; female = 35) of normal population. Instruments: Traumatic Experiences Checklist (tec), 20-Items Toronto Alexithymia Scale (tas-20) Dissociative Experiences Scale (des). Results: experimental group presents: a) higher scores in tas-20, TEC and des; b) a significant correlation between alexithymia, dissociation and trauma. This study suggests that trauma, alexithymia and dissociation are predictors of alcohol-addiction.
