This paper is the product of the authors’ great interest in the topic over her long years of clinical practice. Within the epistemological framework of Gestalt therapy, and using many clinical examples, the author describes her way of working with sexual relational issues as primarily relational sufferings, even when only one of the partners subjectively experiences sexual discomfort. Amendt-Lyon also highlights that the gender identity and sexuality of the therapist play important roles when as practitioner, we address sexual issues within our relationship with patients. Finally, she describes therapeutic support - specific and unspecific - and offers examples of helpful interventions.
Keywords: Relational sexual issues, the phenomenology of relational sexual difficulties, Gestalt psychotherapy and relational sexual disorders, psychotherapeutic supports to relational sexual issues, interventions with sexual relational disorders.
