The history of the changes in the conceptions of health, which led to consider life skills as resources aimed at supporting individuals’ wellbeing, is outlined. Possible links between wellbeing and skills involved in critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, creativity, emotion regulation, empathy are stressed. Implications for intervention are discussed, by suggesting that the empowerment of self-regulatory skills may allow people to play an active role in the managment of their own wellbeing.
