The authors after having traced in Sigmund Freud the creator of "Family romance", put into evidence the Narrative Epistemology of Gregory Bateson, Milton Erickson, Carl Whitaker and Mara Selvini Palazzoli. They find in it an implicit element passed to the systemic relational therapist to be. They analyze also the didactic and formative importance that the genogram (up to the third generation) each student have to draw and narrate in front of their teachers and their group. Then they suggest that it might enrich the student’s knowledge and reflection on his/her own system of origin and on him/herself. This step might become the start of his/her own "Family romance", interconnected with his/her systemic experiences in the therapeutic work carried out.
Keywords: Family romance, narrative, experiential genogram, psychotherapist’ personal training.
