La promozione della salute sessuale nell’invecchiamento: possibili aree di intervento

La ricerca sul tema "sessualità e ageing", se comparato con la produzione scientifica in altri ambiti e nonostante il miglioramento della qualità di vita non ha prodotto significativi avanzamenti. Tale gap può essere ricondotto ad una serie di ragioni, come: questioni metodologiche; tipologia di strumenti utilizzati; applicazione di un modello di funzionamento sessuale basato sul primato della genitalità e misconoscimento delle peculiari motivazioni degli anziani per la sessualità. Ulte-riori dimensioni scarsamente indagate sono quelle relative alle differenze di genere e di orientamento sessuale nella promozione della salute delle persone anziane. Un ruolo significativo è svolto dagli stereotipi, radicati nel senso comune, così come nella ricerca scientifica. Obiettivo del presente contributo è quello di mettere in luce le esigenze del target di popolazione considerato, al fine di guidare gli esperti nella definizione di interventi efficaci; per fare questo vengono presentati i risultati della ricerca clinica e qualitativa, utili per le aree di promozione delle risorse in tema di sessualità in età senile.
