Zhaoqing New Area. La saturazione del Pearl River Delta

L’articolo presenta la new town di Zhaoqing (115 kmq per una popolazione di 600.000 nuovi abitanti entro il 2030), localizzata nella parte nord-occidentale del Pearl River Delta, in un’area ancora fortemente agricola e marginale rispetto al processo di urbanizzazione che ha investito la regione. Zhaoqing è stata recentemente inclusa nel Development Plan of the Pearl River Delta Region (2008-2020). Essere parte del piano fa la differenza, poiché permette alla città di diventare protagonista del processo di sviluppo della Pearl River Delta Global City Region. In questo quadro, la new town di Zhaoqing è chiamata al mantenimento delle qualità della piccola dimensione: una città vivibile, ecologica e salubre, in grado di offrire una buona qualità della vita.
