The author, who has personally met and worked with Zygmunt Bauman, wonders about the concept of "liquid modernity" introduced by the Polish sociologist. Reconstructing some crucial passages of his work, the present paper focuses on the one hand on the Bauman’s way of making sociology, and on the other he questions what contemporary sociologists will be able to do starting from this relevant teaching.
