In particular, for each region, the study analyses the governance framework, the recycling performances, the overall capacity of waste facilities and the household spending for waste. The picture shows an heterogeneous panorama, with excelling territories and areas with a quality gap to be filled. Lombardia region, has achieved outstanding results, both in terms of the averall waste management system and in terms of recycling, with a good waste facilities capacity that is also used by other regions, lacking treatment capacity. Piemonte region shows performances aligned with the national average, while Liguria region still displays a gap in recycling and waste facilities. Regarding household spending for waste management, the picture is overturned, with Lombardia region showing the lowest fees in North-West Italy and Liguria region the highest ones.
