Land recovery is an inescapable theme in urban agenda. The issue of safety of urban systems, related to the level of soil permeability in functional to ensure a hydraulic balance, it relates with the increasing attention to the level of ecosystem services, and their improvement in urban context. The actuality of the topic calls for a review of some de-sealing initiatives also to recognize contexts, tools and stakeholders. This paper, through some international and national examples, leads the actions of de-sealing in five ‘families’: (i) soil-sealing compensation initiatives; (ii) brownfield redevelopment; (iii) mitigation and displacement processes; (iv) Low-Impact Developments measures; (v) rivers rehabilitation interventions.
