The activation of the partnerships has been recognized as a central component of health promotion interventions. However, an open question concerns how to evaluate the quality of partnership working and the processes that make it effective. The aim of the study is to explore whether the role and the type of contribution of participants to the program "Gaining health in community settings" of the Emilia Romagna Region (2014-2016) affects the effectiveness of partnership working. A self-reported questionnaire was administered to a sample of 238 stakeholders (65.4% women, mean age = 51.13 years old). Results show that the roles as-sumed and the types of contribution offered by the participants affect the collaboration effec-tiveness: particularly, the perceived quality of partnership working, sense of community, and empowerment.
