AB -  The paper is a passionate "reaction" to the evaluation system designed and implemented of the ANVUR in recent years. The main objective of this paper is to argue that the culture of evaluation in Italian universities producing irrational economic, cultural and social effects on the universities. The central idea of this paper is that the quality of the university is closely linked to the quality of its evaluation process, in the essay critically discusses the reasons for the decline of the university also to stimulate the attention of sociologists on the processes of change occurring after the 'ANVUR' and encourage them to study with a "sociological eye" some effects of the evaluation system on the quality of the university,on the scientific research and on the categories of subjects that animate.
