The collection and processing of the documentation on reconstruction in Rome after the Second World War helped to clarify some aspects related to the different theories and practices in connection with the work, from restoration to repair and reconstruction. As in other Italian regions, there arose a composite pattern, ranging from proposals and plans for the reconstruction of entire urban networks as and where they were, to solutions for conservation of the remains of destroyed buildings as ruins, to a stimulus for modernisation of the city resulting from the destruction of part of the urban network.;
