The Perturbing is something supposed to be kept secret and hidden, which instead came out: that sort of scary feeling which belongs to what we have been knowing for a long time, to what we are familiar with. Freud named this feeling Das Unheimlich and nowadays, 90 years later, in times that have witnessed all sorts of global events, these words are echoing and describing once more something that we feel deep inside ourselves and that describes us in an ambiguous, at times disturbing, language which creeps up in our conscious living experience. From these disturbances the unconscious, which we face everyday, breaks in. Even though unheimlich is a Freudian-derived word, the phenomenon gives the name to what will be analysed by looking for an image that can offer a mythical background to the question and by trying to identify its mytheme. A possible direction to read Jung’s inheritance can be indicated, looking at his biography and trying to find in his tales the traces of that "perturbing" that seems to be absent - at least formally - in the corpus of his work.
