A finalized action-research project was designed in the Department of Mental Health, Cagliari, to develop a reception handbook for the improvement of health services and the promotion of the organizational well-being (good working practice) for those delivering the service. The contribution illustrates context, delivery and intervention methods used. It should be appreciated that the project is based on two methods of research. The first, based on the analysis of qualitative data, aims to illustrate the main learning objectives as indicated by the participants in the preparation of the reception handbook. The second aims to provide an insight into the relational processes put into effect as a result of the interaction between the various groups/roles involved.
