The article reflects on the theory and practice of the group called Ruolo Terapeutico. It begins with the presence of two sensibilities, both present in the training philosophy of Ruolo Terapeutico. One pays attention to strictly psychoanalytic subjects and the other tends toward an integration with the larger philosophical and existential themes. An attentive examination of the epistemological and ethical references of the group seem to indicate an existential conception of the training in many ways different from the strictly psychoanalytic. This might stem from the centrality of freedom, responsibility and other fundamental human questions. In the article subjectivity is given full value along with the wholeness of the person in the perennial search for the meaning of existence.
