Several studies have shown interest towards the understanding of the variables responsible for the psychological contract. The present study intends to investigate the effects that the variables considered by Effort model-Reward Imbalance (Siegrist, 1996) as responsible for the stress, have on psychological contract breach. The study was conducted on 300 Spanish workers. The results show that the effort, the reward and the lack of balance between these two elements (E-RI) influence the breaking of the psychological contract. Finally it was verified the moderator role of overcommitment.
